FILE UNDER WEEZER:

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo will be the subject of a new Fox comedy pilot, DeTour, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Steve Franks, the creator of the show, Psych, will write the script and executive produce the comedy, which centers around a 30-something rock star who walks away from his life as a successful rock star to “rediscover the parts of his life he missed while he was busy becoming a massive success,” according to a pitch memo cited by The Hollywood Reporter

The real Rivers did take a detour, enrolling in classes at Harvard University in 1995, the year after the release of Weezer’s debut album. He took classes on and off until he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

The band will embark on a fall tour in support of their forthcoming album, Everything Will Be All Right in the End. The record is set for an October 7 release on the band’s new label, Republic.
