FILE UNDER VOLBEAT:

Volbeat‘s most recent album, Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies, continues to sell well a year-and-a-half after its release. Although the band has a jam-packed fall tour schedule, they won’t be coasting much longer on the 2013 release; drummer Jon Larsen reveals that he and his band mates will hit the studio after “a bit of holiday.”

In an interview with Finnish Kaaos TV, Larsen says, “We’re gonna be on the road for most of the [rest of the] year. That’s the end of this year and…the end of the Outlaw Gentlemen cycle, so to speak. I think after a bit of holiday, we will probably start working seriously on new tunes.”

Larsen reveals that Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsenis already starting” on new material, “adding stuff and pieces, he’s already thinking about artwork, titles, songs… he’s already way ahead of that.” Larsen says that the rest of the band will “start up probably either late December…[or] definitely [by] early January and lock ourselves in the rehearsal room and try to come up with some new stuff.”

The bar has been raised by Outlaw Gentlemen; the album was widely applauded by critics and its latest single reached number three on the rock charts. It was the first Volbeat album to be produced by former Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano, who became so important to the recording process that he was asked — and agreed — to join the band.

Volbeat is in Europe playing festivals. The band’s tour with Five Finger Death Punch kicks off September 16 in Salt Lake City.
