In a heartfelt Instagram Story posted over the weekend, Tony Hawk expressed his desire that Kurt Cobain would have had the opportunity to meet their shared grandson. Hawk’s son Riley and Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean had a baby boy, Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk, back in September. In the post, the skateboarding icon reflects on the impact Nirvana had on his life, reminiscing about the memorable concert he attended by the legendary Seattle band in 1991, and shared an image of the $10 ticket stub from the show at The Vatican in Houston. “It was as transformative as live music can possibly be,” Hawk wrote of Nirvana’s show, which he drove to immediately after finishing a skateboarding competition. “We all experienced something rare and powerful that night. The world would never be the same.” Posted around what would have been Cobain’s 58th birthday on February 20, Hawk shared his wish that Kurt could witness “the incredible woman his daughter has become,” meet her caring husband, and hold their “wondrous grandchild.” (Billboard)
