Weezer are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut – commonly referred to by fans as The Blue Album – with a hotly anticipated US tour with Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr., as well as a just announced expansive reissue of The Blue Album released on November 1st. The Super Deluxe Edition of Weezer’s debut album is described as “the most comprehensive vision of The Blue Album ever created.” The vinyl box set will feature 4 12-inch LPs, a 10-inch EP, and one 7-inch, which will include a remastered version of the original album along with 36 previously unreleased tracks. Those unheard recordings include eight “Kitchen Tape Demos,” 22 early practices and live recordings, six BBC radio sessions, and four recordings from Loyola Marymount University.
To preview the massive collection, Weezer shared the earliest known recording of one of the big hits from The Blue Album, “Undone – The Sweater Song,” which is now available for streaming. Weezer’s Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour – where they will play The Blue Album in its entirety during their set – started up in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Wednesday night (September 4) and continues through the middle of October.
