On Monday (August 12), a bust containing the ashes of legendary Motörhead singer Lemmy Kilmister was escorted to the Nottingham, UK music venue Rock City by a procession of 55 Harley-Davidson bikers. After the end of the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park in Derbyshire, the bikers escorted a truck containing the bust on an hour’s drive to Nottingham. Upon its safe arrival at Rock City, a special ceremony was held to embed the bust in a decorative alcove in the brick wall of the historic venue, alongside an “Ace of Spades” plaque that features Lemmy’s name. The bust with Lemmy’s ashes will remain on display at Rock City throughout the year. The venue has strong ties to Motörhead, who played 10 shows there between 1987 and 2006. Each August, the bust will return to the ‘Lemmy Forever’ memorial at the Bloodstock festival grounds. (Consequence of Sound)
