How did you get your start in radio?
I tried the "Will talk for food" sign in front of a radio station and it worked.
What is your favorite part about the job?
1) The good feeling I get from being a positive role model for today's kids...AND
2) No really, I love selling cars!

A car full of very large women tried to follow me home once when I got off the air. True story.

The worst? Calling Dweezil Zappa, Frank. His father had recently died from cancer. Man did I feel bad. Favorite? Jason Newsted around the time of the "Load" tour. I was in the KATT video van and he was on the phone back at the station because we technically lost the signal from the Myriad (where they played that night). We had a great conversation about everything not Metallica. And he seemed to love it. In hindsight, it made sense he wasn't that into talking Metallica because his days were numbered. I think he hated being in Metallica to be honest with you.
I will also never forget a very young scrawny Zakk Wylde. This was around the time of his "Pride & Glory" days. P&G came into town to play the Roxy. Anyone remember that place? We were promoting a canned food drive. He came into the studio (with his acoustic) and performed on the air. I remember someone told me he liked beer. So I found a six-pack of white Budweiser tallboy cans in the break room refrigerator. I sprung into action and stowed it away before the interview started. There was this little cubbyhole where we stashed things (headphones, food etc) in the studio. As the interview began to unfold, I busted out the brew on the air and Zakk was then on autopilot. In this day and age of "operating in delay" radio, that never would have happened but I'll always remember walking the halls during the interview because Zakk wouldn't stop playing. I literally left the studio. You could honestly hear him sing from the front lobby. He was that loud. Finally, Linkin Park coming to our broadcast trailer in front of the TNT building during an ice storm. It was their first tour supporting Papa Roach. Nobody knew who they were. That was cool too in hindsight because that never would happen now.
